Ignacio was born in the colorful port town of Valparaiso Chile, and at an early age immigrated with his family to the sleepy seaside town of Ventura California. He later after high school, moved to San Francisco to study Art and Sociology with an emphasis on commune living and ideology at SFSU. After extensive travel to Mexico, Asia, Europe, and South America he became increasingly interested in vernacular and modern architecture. His start in the trades began 20 years ago with apprenticeships in building custom homes and fine woodworking that later transpired into studying under Japanese craftsmen and homes. He currently for the past 10 years has been committed to building using alternative construction methods, and designs. He is now independently contracting throughout the world designing and building custom projects while teaching, and collaborating with Dome Gaia using aircrete as a material to create more sustainable and affordable tiny homes. His goal today is to educate others and design radically innovative and sustainably built buildings for the future that have the potential and power to affect social, environmental, and personal change
