w/ Matt Graham
May 14 – 20th, 2017
What to Expect:
This course will be taught in a unique setting on a beautiful Ranch full of oak groves and babbling creeks that sits at the base of Boulder Mountain, in Boulder, Utah.
Our days will be filled with walks in the wilderness and searching for materials for building bows in the wild, as well as make bows from already seasoned Hickory or Osage Orange wood. Once our bows are completed, we will practice different styles of shooting, work on exercises that will increase our accuracy and hunting skills.
These bows will shoot quieter than some of the most expensive modern bows on the market today, plus you will have the added connection to building the bow from natural materials yourself.
This is a great opportunity to learn and make your own set of bow and arrows. You will also learn a variety of hunting techniques and exercises that will increase your ability to shoot the bow accurately, not only at a target, but in the field on a hunt. You will also learn a variety of stalking exercises and other techniques that will prepare you for the hunt.
Matt has been conducting and designing hunting and bow building workshops through Boulder Outdoor Survival School, True Nature School and freelance work for over 15 years. After traveling with the Discovery Channel, he is bringing his proven workshops to you. Matt has spent over 6 months solo in the wilderness using these primitive hunting methods, and often walks out into the wild with no more than a breech cloth and hunting tools.
These classes, though extremely challenging, avoid a military, prepper or competitive approach, but rather focus on the love for these skills, and the wilderness that we still have on this planet. Each workshop is designed to offer a more extensive hands on approach with limited enrollment to offer the most individualized attention to each student.

Matt Graham has been teaching primitive-living skills for about 20 years. After moving to the Sierra mountain range at age 17, he began to climb, mountain run and learn Native American living skills from the Miwok, Paiute and others. At that time, Matt would take long runs into the backcountry with a few items tied around his waist, forage for food and build shelters. Afterwards, Matt moved to the Grand Canyon during a Walkabout, ran the Pacific Crest Trail through California, then peddled his bicycle to Utah. There he became immersed in the Hunter Gatherer lifestyle that people had once lived: connected with the earth & living with the land. After sharing his knowledge with a TV world, he is back in his home country of Utah offering hands on instruction with valuable skills that can deepen your connection to your roots and this planet.
