Capitol Reef Dark Sky Park:
Due to largely resisting infrastructure development in order to maintain a more rustic experience, Capitol Reef is a designated go to location for some serious night viewing. With very little artificial lighting throughout the entire park, your experience is similar to what it would have been during the Pioneer era.
Bryce Canyon National Park:
Bryce’s remote canyon has been described as “among the darkest in the Southwest”. Due to its splendor, the park even offers regulatory multimedia astronomy programs, telescope viewing, full moon hikes and an Annual Astronomy Festival. For a list of these events, keep posted on our calender list of events as well as nps.gov for Bryce Canyon.
For something as close as you can get to the Ranch, just look up! Out here in Salt Gulch and away from the big ol’ town of Boulder, we steer clear of any excessive lighting. Enjoy a night hike around the property or bring a blanket in the field right out front of the lodge with a cold one and see what all the fuss is about.
